The main ideas evident in my pieces are mostly just attention to detail. With the hand drawing, I tried to draw as many smaller details such as wrinkles and things in the hand itself to try and make this as realistic and as detailed as possible. Because it was a pure contour drawing, I tried to include every detail and every single line that I saw. With the shoe, I tried to capture it from three different angles that might allow you to see what the shoe fully looks like rather than similar angles that only allow you to get a few views. This was especially clear when I chose to draw the shoe from the top angle. It allowed you to see it in more detail with the other views. One of them I tried to make more slanted, and it was a challenge at first but I soon got used to it during the drawing. When trying to add more detail, I tried to make my lines more bumpy rather than completely straight just because in real life. these things aren’t completely straight and perfect therefor I did not draw them that way. A relation to my life with the shoe might just be that they’re my favorite pair, that’s why I chose to draw them for this piece. It also allowed me to figure out how much more I enjoy drawing real life things with a reference over drawing just pure creative things that come from your mind, It allowed me to figure out more of what I prefer as an artist and I really enjoy that.
The work was made using different kinds of pencils. For the basic sketch I used before going over the drawing with more pure lines, I just used a 2H pencil. It was light, easy to work with, and easier to erase. When I began to go over the drawing and add full and pure lines I swapped between using different kinds of B pencils. I did this to try to show depth, I tried to make lighter lines on things that were farther away and darker ones on lines that were closer to you. For the lighter lines I used a 2b pencil, for ones more in the middle I used a 4b pencil and for ones the closest I used a 6b pencil.
To create my works of art I first focused on every line in both my hand and the shoe. I tried to draw these lines on the page and just make them as accurate as possible, getting that first line down on the page was difficult, I was always worrying that the drawing was not accurate enough and things along those lines. However, after getting that sketch down I began to have a better rhythm and the drawings went smoothly from that point on. My project evolved from just a simple sketch, to adding darker and more confident lines on the page and over that sketch. It specifically evolved from being just one darker line around the drawing to multiple that showed depth, this included me deciding to use different types of B pencils on the drawing to try to show the close/farness of the drawing. My next steps could fully well be just to practice this more, I enjoyed this type of drawing and practicing it more may help me improve.
