Gelatin Print

Extended

Pure

This project truly seemed to me as something short and fun, I really enjoyed the printing process from the use of the crayola markers to my choice to use ink for my final project. When approaching this project using the crayola markers I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, I simply knew that I enjoyed the fast-paced nature of this project and just how quickly you could get a good print. The only specific idea that I had going into this piece was the colors that I wanted to use. I knew the background colors that I desired, and also the fact that I wanted to do it out of ink after ink was introduced as an option and after examples using ink were shown to me. I also knew that I wanted to have specific objects over my print to create negative space. I knew I wanted the clementine wrapper to serve as a sort of a net. I knew that this design would look cool with the background colors. I had also seen other designs using these same things, so I knew that they would look how I wanted them to. There was no specific theme or idea, rather this was more experimentation in order to see how it would actually end up looking after seeing examples. I also did not have a clue what I would do for the extended piece. I also wanted a design that would transfer well and look nice with the objects and colors used. But also designs that would allow me to extend on my project, and be inspired to do so. In the end I was satisfied with everything, although I do think that the extended piece could have been better.

This project began with the Crayola markers, when everyone was initially getting introduced to this project. AT this stage I used a variety of colors such as purple, green, and blue, and these choices (in a way) influenced my choice of colors in the final project. This was the stage where I was figuring out what I wanted to do with my project, and the stage in which I was just getting used to everything, as the Gelatin blocks were something completely new and foreign to me.

For this I just used Crayola markers, and only did one design, from I went on to transfer my design onto the small half sheet of paper, to see how the print looked, and thought that everything together looked nice and I was excited for the final project. From this stage, I chose the colors and materials for my final project. I mixed black and navy blue ink to get a design that I wanted, and once again transferred my design to the paper. From this stage, after the prints, I chose the two that were best to post and altered one of them to make my extended print using colored pencil.

I really had fun all throughout this project. I was experimenting and trying new things all throughout. The first was the beginning of this project, where we just used Crayola markers. It was the stage where I was beginning to figure out my project, figure out the colors, the materials, and so force, the second was when I approached my actual project, although I knew what specific colors I wanted to use, I was really just sort of throwing down objects in a way that I believe look nice. In the end I am happy with everything, and especially happy with the way the random assortment of objects. I am happy with my decision, as the final prints looked a way that I was satisfied with.
