sustained investigation #1

Artist statement

My drawing is supposed to represent a calm mood through a landscape painting. It is a painting that i tried to use horizontal lines to show depth through my painting to create a better atmosphere in the background. The background color is there to show different calming colors being as it is the emotion i chose to do for my first sustained investigation. This was set up to show as many lines for depth as possible.

For this piece i used acrylic paint, and colored pencil for more of fine detail. I picked these materials because i knew that they were all very defining tools and would be easy to layer on top of to get the right colors. i wanted to be able to define certain pieces of this drawing to make it stand out.

The process i went through to be able to create this piece was trying to think quick about the emotion and drawing what i first saw in my head, i wanted it to be simple to look at but complex to the mind. I really think it evolved because the more and more i painted the better the image came to my mind. My next steps could be learning how to define and shape my pieces better.
