Duck Stamp

Artist Statement

My drawing is supposed to represent a Tundra Swan in once of its few habitats. It is a realistic drawing that shows the detail of the swan and the surrounding land. The background color is there to represent where the Tundra Swan lives in the spring season. This topic relates to the competition that is world wide for the new duck stamp

For this piece i used graphite, and colored pencil. I picked these materials because i knew that they were all very defining tools and would be easy to layer on top of to get the right colors. i needed to be able to trace and define certain pieces of this drawing.

The process i went through to be able to create this piece was many, many different sketches and each had a different perspective as well as colors, some more realistic than others. I really think it evolved because the more and more i sketched the better detail it had. My next steps could be learning how to define and shape my pieces better.
