This experiment uses the Grisaille technique which is where the artist uses grays and sometimes browns to depict their image. It often helps to see values more clearly due to the lack of colors.
Instead of bright and comforting colors like Jordan Casteel uses in her works, I’ll be using more monotone and washed-out colors that depict ordinary people in a different light than how Casteel would do it.
I’ll be experimenting with gold acrylic paint. I’ll try to see if it would work better in the background or if I should apply it to the people.
