Science and art tend to go hand in hand for me in terms of career choices or academic interests in general. Marine biology, psychology, and fine arts are favorable paths for me to take. I'd like to make a mark on the world whether it be with research for the betterment of society and our world, or creating pieces that inspire others to live and enjoy art. There are many opportunities for me to incorporate art into my future work like being a textbook illustrator or simply selling my works on the side. If the professional and financial aspect of art is disregarded, I would still keep it in my life, it provides not only a creative outlet for me but a way to share my stories and ideas with others.
I took an AP art class in hopes that my creative and critical skills would improve. After taking a few intermediate art classes freshman and sophomore year, I thought a more complex class would be best for my future path. I enjoy that we not only get to work initially and from our own ideas, but simultaneously learn about modern day artists and their impacts on society. I had a slight art burnout over the summer and felt I wasn’t prepared to come back to a tougher class, but through the guidance of my teacher and the cordial atmosphere provided by my peers, I was able to comfortably fall back into the art making process.
From day to day, I like to draw, hang out with friends, and indulge in commentary videos about anything really. I especially enjoy comic making, which could be a form of inspiration for others. Creating and reading stories are some of my favorite things to do. Truthfully, it's what keeps me sane and I'd like to have that same effect on others, even if it's just a little bit. In terms of painting, I'd like to dive deeper into more complex meanings and broaden the scale of my work. The ability to create things on such a wide scale is so impressive to me and would prove quite interesting if I followed a similar path. Overall, I would really like my art to impact people, whether it's from a simple comic strip or a larger piece that evokes a sense of meaning.
