Introduction:
For our outdoor STEM space project, we were tasked to create a specific plan for any piece of furniture we wished to have on the San Marin campus. We spent a few weeks designing blueprints, making a slideshow, finding pricing, and building a scaled down model of our product. My group ended up choosing to build a hanging swing for the tree out front. We knew this would be a difficult furniture piece to design, but thought it'd be a really fun thing to have on campus. On the right is our slideshow with all the needed information.
Extra Information
When working on our project, one thing we had to keep in mind was the sunlight, where it would hit and when. The place we chose to hang our bench would work perfectly because it's right under a tree giving you a comfortable amount of shade to relax in both the summer and winter.
We also thought a swinging bench would be a nice change of pace. Being teenagers and actual students going here, we realized that a bench within the facility of our hanging bench's location would be very helpful. Especially for those who are waiting to get picked up after school. But also when waiting at lunch and in the mornings. We truly believe it'd get great all around use.
Reflection
I thought this project was really fun, and I loved the idea of being able to create something we could actually end up using within the school. And then being able to get voted on by many people throughout Novato. That being said, I'm really sad that I couldn't make it to the Open House night and actually be able to present it to all those people. But as it seems, the rest of my group ended up doing really good since we got many votes after the night.
Personally, I think I did very good at organizing and creating a good plan on how to go about the whole project. I also think I did a pretty good job managing timelines and when everything was due. Although, I think I could've worked on participating in all the parts of the project and helping out others rather than only working on one particular part off the project. And still as I continue on with this school year, I need to continue to progress in being less bossy and always needing things to go my way and only my way.
