In our project we were tasked to create three different instruments. A string instrument, a wind instrument, and a chime. I decided to do the string instrument, where a made a guitar out of wood, 20lb fishing line, a glass bottle, and nails.
Our process:
After deciding who was doing each instrument we then had to create a blueprint of each instrument. Since I was doing string I had to figure out the measurements of my instruments, by finding out the length of the longest string, which was the lowest note. To do so I found the wave length of c4 and divided it by two. I then found that the length would be 65 cm, and drew the blueprint. While drawing the blueprint I realized that my instrument would be better if the sound was amplified, so I chose to amplify the sound using an empty glass bottle. The instrument would be made out of 8 strings, that would all touch the glass bottle. The 8 strings would each have to be tied to two screws for a total of 16 screws. The hardest part about building the instrument was tightening the string, to make the correct notes. After adding all 8 strings to the instrument, I used a phillips screw driver and a tuning app to tune to the right notes.
CONTENT
Frequency: The number of complete wave cycles completed in one second(hZ).
Wave speed: The rate of how fast a wave travels through a medium(m/s)
Wavelength: The distance between two corresponding points on adjacent waves.
Period: The time it takes for a wave to complete a cycle(one crest to another).
Amplitude: The maximum extent of a vibration measured from the equilibrium.
Transverse wave: A wave vibrating at right to the direction of it's propagation.
Longitudinal wave: A wave vibrating in the direction of a propagation.
Medium: Any materials that a wave vibrates through.
Electromagnetic spectrum: The range of wavelengths or frequencies over which electromagnetic radiation extends

I think I did pretty good on this project with my critical thinking and my collaboration. I was able to create a instrument with little to no help from the teacher. My instrument was also able to make good notes. I thought I did well with my collaboration because I created the instrument on time, so we could have a string instrument for the presentation.
Two things that I think I need to work on was communication and making sure the group was on task. For the most part I hardly talked to my group members because I was working on my own instrument, and did not make sure that they completed their instruments.
