A good website update should include:
Evidence of the final product of the project with pictures, a video, or a file.
A brief (1 - 3 paragraph) description of what you did for the project.
All major concepts from the unit/project are mentioned and explained clearly and accurately. Explain how each concept was used in your project. Mention how other concepts from other classes were also integrated into your project. (1 mini-paragraph per concept)
A reflection on your work on your project (how do you feel the project went) including:
At least two things that you did well, learned about yourself, or gained as a new skill (use examples to show these). These are your Peaks or Positives. They should be linked to the 6 C’s of the Graduate Profile.
At least two things that you could have done better and will continue to improve upon (use examples to show how things went poorly). These are your Pits or Negatives. Connect them to the 6 C’s of the Graduate Profile.
For our project we researched different water pollutants effects on the brain and then we created a filter to take out the pollutants to make our water safe to drink. The water we collected didn't have any severe levels of pollutants in them so they were within safe limits to drink. Our filter- from top to bottom: gravel, sand, activated charcoal, cheese cloth, cotton balls- was created to take out these pollutants. When the dirty water went through the filter it came out clear and it came out without some of the hardness and some of the iron it went in with.
Being able to have background information from our research regarding the Flint Water crisis helped greatly. Along with the information collected during our Water Web Quest.
I felt this project left me with lots of room and lots of ideas for improvement. It was a very different collaborating experience then any I've had before. It taught me to value those I am able to work with because that unfortunately cannot be possible with everyone. I had to practice my passive aggressiveness to urge people on without openly being rude.
I thought I did a good job collaborating despite the resistance I received. I will have to continue to have to learn to work with certain types of people because that was definitely the most difficult part of the project.
This also leads me to being culturally competent. Being able to understand people and how to speak to them is key when doing group work. I wish I had more time in person to get to interact and know my group mates directly. Unfortunately half of my group was gone for over a week do to sickness and injury. If this was not the case and I was able to work with them full time I think this project would have been a more positive experience. Nevertheless, it was a valued experience for what it taught me.
