Step 2 Updates

Capstone Design Step 2: Generation of Alternative Concepts

For Step 2 of our design  process, my team and I worked hard to define 3 alternate ideas that we brainstormed, discussed, planned out, and sketched. After our first thumbnail sketches, we refined our scope of research, and had another brainstorming session during class. After this dicussion, we re-sketched the plans, and detailed them with dark pen and added labels to make the design more clear to our audience.

Our three designs explored plans for how we were going to connect the replaceable tread of the shoes to the top part of the shoe. This went through several screening process, and we eventually landed on the following three designs.

Reflection

My team and I Focused a lot on our communication skills during this step. We are developing our professional identities for our future jobs. For this stage of our project, it is really important for us to all be on the same page about our design. This far into the project, we have to really pay attention to our timeline and focus on staying on track, which usually means checking each other and making sure the workload is even. In order for this to work, we have to have sympathy for each other and pick up the slack here and there for each other. This is easier for us since we have been going to school together for the past 4+ years, and we care for each other so we want to see our whole team succeed.

Some things we did well during this step was being conscientious learners. Each of us takes responsibility for our actions, and keeps up with our own work. Being seniors, we are experienced enough in managing our time that we can still have fun without letting our grades drop. This is a well developed skill, but it did take time to learn how to balance. I am proud of my team and I for being capable of this.
