Cosmic Chemistry

What was the assignment?

The project assigned to us by Mrs. Vogl was to present what we learned during our cosmic chemistry unit in three ways out of the nine she suggested. We chose the top row of suggestions: Kinesthetic, verbal, and mathematical.

In our Cosmic Chemistry unit, we needed to be able to:

Develop models to illustrate the changes in the composition of the nucleus of the atom and the energy released during the processes of fission, fusion, and radioactive decay.

Develop a model based on evidence to illustrate the life span of the sun and the role of nuclear fusion in the sun’s core to release energy in the form of radiation.

Construct an explanation of the Big Bang theory based on astronomical evidence of light spectra, motion of distant galaxies, and composition of matter in the universe.

Communicate scientific ideas about the way stars, over their life cycle, produce elements.

Reflection:

Me and my team learned that listening to other's ideas is imperative to a coherent project. I learned to speak up and voice my opinions only at the right time. For next time, we want to work on being more productive in class. We have not been very efficient with our time, and had to do some work at home. I want to work on not goofing off and distracting others on my team and around me.

We succeeded in communicating accurately to each other. We worked quick and were efficient in getting the writing assignments done. We all did an equal amount of work, even if we had to do some for homework. We were all dedicated to the project, and were there for each other to complete the work.
