Our Task
For this project we had to choose a world problem and come up with a solution. Our group chose the problem of retirement home prices.Â
We researched our issue and selected a solution, which was to build a fruit and vegetable garden. Our last step was to create a slideshow presentation.
Content
Identify the Need: The first thing we did was figure out which problem we wanted to solve - retirement home prices.
Research the Problem: Next we researched the problem by finding 50+ pieces of information from three different sources.
Develop Possible Solutions: We brainstormed five different solutions before deciding on one.
Select a Promising Solution: We decided on a solution we could actually implement, which was the garden.
Build a Prototype: One of our group members drew a blueprint of our garden on paper.
Test and Evaluate Prototype: We then thought of all the benefits of our garden and how we could keep it running at a low cost.
Redesign: We reevaluated where we wanted to place our garden and where it would benefit seniors the most.
Reflection
This did not last long but I had fun doing it. We focused on engineering only for this, which was a nice break from physics. Some things I did well this time focusing. I got a lot of my work done in class and I was pretty prepared for our presentation. I also think I communicated well with my group. We talked about all possible solutions and come up with one we all agreed on. Some things I could improve on is initiative. I got my work done but I could have gone farther. I could be more of a leader and not let the majority of the work fall on one person. Overall this was a fun project and I enjoyed it.
