This two-hour workshop will include in depth conversations surrounding the education ideology behind social reconstructionism as classroom philosophy. This ideology focuses on curriculum that highlights social reform as the aim of education. We will dive into the "how to's" of blending social justice awareness, vocabulary and practices into the unique task of teaching trade skills to middle and high school students. We will also discuss how this translates into students moving into the modern work culture. The workshop will serve as a platform for open conversation and sharing as well as providing resources for lesson plans and hands on practice examples and activities that can be integrated into specialized industry curriculum.
