The Harker Programming Invitational (HPI) is our annual in-person programming competition, bringing together 150+ middle and high school students each March at our Upper School campus in San Jose. Teams of up to three students compete in a two-hour contest, solving USACO-style algorithmic problems in either Novice or Advanced divisions. The competition emphasizes collaborative problem-solving.
HPI also features industry and academic panel sessions where students hear from professionals about career paths in computer science and technology. Industry booths provide opportunities to explore companies and learn about internships.
The event concludes with an awards ceremony, including awards for winning team members in the advanced division and additional prizes for placing teams.
