Welcome to the Programming Club!
Harker Programming Club is a student-run organization at The Harker Upper School. We aim to educate and inspire students in contest programming and real-world programming applications. We host two annual algorithmic programming contests with invited keynote speakers: the Girls Programming League (GPL), which encourages girls to explore their interests in computer science, and the Harker Programming Invitational (HPI), which provides a fun, engaging environment for coders to enhance their knowledge and skills. Throughout the year, we also hold lectures and workshops on various CS-related topics for Harker high school students.
Main Events
The Girls Programming League (GPL) Challenge is our annual programming competition dedicated to inspiring and empowering middle and high school girls and non-binary students in computer science. Held online every September since 2018, GPL consistently attracts over 100 participants from dozens of schools across multiple countries, creating a global community of young programmers.
The Harker Programming Invitational (HPI) is our in-person programming competition, bringing together 150+ middle and high school students each March for a day of algorithmic problem-solving and professional networking. Held at our Upper School campus in San Jose, HPI creates an exciting, collaborative environment where teams of up to three students tackle challenging USACO-style problems. Our next HPI contest will be happening on March 7, 2026.
