How I Met Mr Yap Tay Soon
When I was younger, my parents noticed that I had a strong passion for art. So, when I was five years old, they enrolled me in a community centre art class where I learned how to draw basic shapes and forms. Not long after, our neighbour introduced my parents to a more advanced art class led by Mr. Yap, a dedicated 70-year-old art teacher with decades of experience.
Mr. Yap became an influential person in my artistic journey. He introduced me to various art forms such as watercolour, acrylic, oil painting, and pencil sketching. More than just teaching technique, he constantly encouraged me to push my limits and become the best artist I could be. His guidance and belief in my potential have left a lasting impact on my creative growth.
After learning from him for nine years, I have now reached an advanced level often referred to as a Western art student.
