I believe that classroom curriculum is important to teach in the classroom, but should not be used every step of the way. I think it is flexible and be used more as a guide of what to teach. Having a textbook curriculum can cause the students to become disengaged. While using the curriculum as a guide, it creates more room for creativity that keeps students interacted and wanting to learn.
One of the famous educators that inspired my teaching was Anne Sullivan. She was best known for working with Helen Keller, a deaf and blind student. While Sullivan was visually impaired, she was determined to impact the lives of her students no matter the hardships. With her approach on individualized instruction, Sullivan left a long lasting impact on her students with recognizing every student learns differently.
"Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose - not the one you began with perhaps, but one you'll be glad to remember." -Anne Sullivan
