As an educator, I believe it's important to incorporate personal values in the classroom. One of my personal values that I hold is belonging. Incorporating the value of belonging is important in my classroom because it creates a sense of community, where everyone is comfortable with each other and feel welcomed into the classroom. Having a sense of belonging in the classroom can also bring out the individuals identities and feel valued in the classroom.
"Belonging brings out the very best in each of us. It gives every person a voice and a seat at the table. It lowers the walls and the hierarchies that are constructed to keep us apart or at a distance. Belonging says 'Me too' or 'I’m so glad you survived' and 'I’ve never met anyone like you'"
