Hello there! My name is Anna Bergamini and I am a graduate student at Dominican University. I'm in the process of earning my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and MA in Education. I earned my Bachelors Degree in English Literature from San Francisco State University. After earning my BA, I worked as an after-school care supervisor. This position helped me realize that I wanted to continue working with kids. I continued on to work as a Transitional Kindergartner teacher for three years and a Kindergarten Aide for one year. Those years of teaching taught me that fostering relationships with students, families and coworkers is what truly aids in each child's growth, as well as my growth as an educator.
Teaching is so much fun! Being able to connect with my students and help them explore the world around them with open minds and full hearts is the most rewarding work I could ever do. There is truly nothing like it!
I love spending quality time with family and friends. Having grown up in a close-knit Italian family, I know the importance one's upbringing and culture plays in their personal development.
One of my goals as an educator is to be mindful of my own cultural biases and help my students be open to learning and sharing their family traditions.
It is my philosophy to teach and reach the whole child in all forms of teaching and childcare. I aim to be flexible and open in my teaching practices, especially when it comes to creating an equitable and socially just curriculum.
It is my goal to empower my students and help them become resourceful, empathetic and thoughtful learners. In order to accomplish this task, I plan on implementing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Framework into all of my lessons and teaching practices. I believe that giving students choices is a wonderful way for them to build autonomy and truly enjoy the process of learning. I firmly believe that it is the teacher's job to meet their students where they are at socially, emotionally, and academically. How do we do that? By getting to know our students and creating an environment in which they feel comfortable and accepted for exactly who they are.
