Intro to Art

Hand Drawing

This is the hand drawing project I made. We had to choose a tool, so I chose a paintbrush. Then we would take a photo of you holding it, then print it out. I learned a lot about value from this piece and learning how to make the picture bigger. My greatest achievement in this piece was just drawing something that I never thought I could do. I did better than I thought and I got multiple comments on this drawing from family and friends. I personally think I did pretty well with the paintbrush and some of the shadows on the hand.

Insect Painting

In this piece, I was looking for an insect I never heard of which was this glass wing butterfly. It seemed really amazing how God created a butterfly with transparent wings so I decided to attempt painting it. I am honestly not very proud of this piece but I'm glad that I tried. I learned a lot in making an acrylic painting and it was a little difficult for me. My greatest achievement was blending colors together because I did better than I thought. I got a lot of comments how it's really cool how there is a butterfly that looks like the one I painted.

 Cactus Jar

For my first clay jar, I wanted to do a cactus because I just thought that it would look cute to have in my room. Although I am not very proud of this piece, I will still use it instead of throwing it away. People have told me that their favorite thing about this jar was the flowers. My greatest achievement was actually the flowers becuase sometimes they would fall off and I would have to remake them., but these turned out great.

Clay Bowl: Avatar

I got inspired by the animated show Avatar: The Last Air-bender. I made this clay bowl with the same colors and signs from the show. The white color was for Appa's fur and the blue arrows are from both Appa and Aang to show that Aang is the Avatar and Appa is the Avatar's companion. I even put the air nation sign at the bottom of the bowl. I would say I'm proud of this piece even though there is some blue peeking on top of the white color. God gave me the creativity to figure out how to show the symbolism and the structure for this bowl. The hardest part of making this bowl was painting on the glaze. I was trying to cover the blue glaze with white around the arrows but it didn't work out. My greatest achievement in making this was putting all of the parts together. Many people told me that my bowl looks really good and they could tell how the bowl was inspired by Avatar.

Panda Whistle

This clay whistle was really fun to make and I enjoyed it. Even though it doesn't look exactly how I wanted it to be, I tried and I think that for my first time, it's pretty good. The only problem was that the panda is eating a bamboo, but for some reason the bamboo wouldn't turn green in the kilm. I felt like I could have made this  better by fixing how it looked, but I tried my best and I kind of like it.

Printmaking

In the beginning of this project, I didn't like it because of the beginning process but it was worth it because it was really fun and it looks really cool with different ways to print. I chose an eagle because it was cool. I feel like I accomplished my goal which was coming out with a cool print. The hardest part in making this was tracing and carving. I am proud of this piece and hope that I do more of it in my free time. I chose an eagle because my dad likes eagles. In the first print it's called a rainbow print. The second of is called same paper, different ink. The third one is called a double print and it looks like a glitch. The last one is called something unique. My favorite color is purple so that is why you see a lot of it here.

 Underwatercolor

I would say this is the best piece I have made in Intro to Art. I honestly did not think I would like watercolor, but itś so much easier and better than acrylic. I am really proud of this piece and I would definitely make more watercolor in the future. I think I did really well with the body part of the jellyfish. The hardest part  of this jellyfish was the little red lines because it was hard to stay in the lines. I had so many great comments from my family and friends about this piece.

Foam/Metal Box

This is not my favorite piece but it was fun to make. I like the design paper I chose but how I put it together was not the best. The hardest part about this piece was writing my name on the metal piece. I probably messed up about 4 times until made one that was decent. I could read my name but it looks weird. I'm not that proud of this piece but it was fun to make as our last project.  I believe the best thing I made was applying the paper to where it needed to be applied.

Spot the Difference

This project was hard to do because I'm not tech savvy. I'm glad I was able to do this with my partner, but this wasn't easy. My partner has the other page where she made her differences. I made 5 changes and she made 5 changes so in total there are ten. This is made into a book so it would be like and actual Spot the Difference Book.
