For this project, we were asked to create something that was meaningful to us personally. I thought of creating an Egyptian style artifact. I wanted to incorporated my culture because it's very important to me. But, it also reminds me of all the memories I had back when I would go to Egypt to visit family but also to the Egyptian museum where I got my inspiration from. Even though this project took me months to actually complete, it was worth it to me. A lot of my friends and family also really liked it and told me that it looked like an artifact which was exactly what I was going for. I think one of my favorite parts of this project was carving the hieroglyphics, spelling my name, on the top of the vase. I also think the gold really added a lot to the vase making it actually look good.
Stained glass was always a project I wanted to do at least once in my life and thankfully I finally got the opportunity to. This was honestly fun to make and I didn't really have a lot of trouble in anything which surprised me since I thought this was going to be more difficult than I imagined. I loved all the colors I picked out and cutting them I think was my favorite part because it was satisfying to get perfect cuts almost every time.
This project was actually one of my proudest. In the beginning I had no idea what to do until I came across multiple different styles of bees and that's what gave me the thought to do this honeycomb. I enjoyed soldering and cutting each piece out. But the most challenging part of the process was grinding the glass pieces, especially since some of my pieces were tiny, like the eyes of the bee. I loved how my project came out despite some of the solder looking a bit messy in certain areas. All of my friends and family loved how my project came out and were impressed by the details and the design.
