For this project in Advanced Art, we all received photos of children from Sierra Leone and we get the opportunity to draw a picture of them as a gift. We get to choose between shading, colored pencil, or soft pastels. We started with practive of all three ways of drawing, and then we will choose which one we like and make the actual portrait. We will draw these and then send them back to Sierra Leone as gifts for these kids.
I am a little nervous for this project. I don't think any of my practice drawings were amazing, and I want this project to be good because it's going to someone. I am excited though, I think this is such a special experience and I love that we get to send these pictures as blessings to these children. I feel like this is a way we can shine the light of Jesus, so for that reason I love this project.
The most important aspect of this portrait is that it portrays the child we are given. I want my girl, Rugii, to see herself in this picture and love it. This activity can be considered worship because we are glorifying God through art. Like I said above, we are shinning the light of Jesus by drawing these kids to send as a gift for them. I will know if I'm successful with this project by knowing I did my best and by truly trying to make my art portray Rugii, not just how she looks but her character too. I will also be praying for her as I work, praying that she will feel the love of God.
I liked the soft pastel more than I thought I would, but I was really struggling with color matching and I do not think this is the best way I can portray Rugii.
I enjoy working with colored pencils. I loved it last year, and I still do this year. I will be doing my final project with colored pencil, I believe this is the best way I can portray Rugii.
I haven't done a project with shading in a while, and it's not my favorite. I was really struggling with the color values, so I will not be doing this for my final project.
