For this project we started with a flat slab of clay and we cut out the shape of the lantern. We used stamps or patterns to make the designs on the sides. Once our designs were done, we carefully folded up the sides to make the lantern and have the pattern on the outside. Once we finished we fired the lanterns to make them hard. After the lanterns were fired, we painted them with glaze and fired them again to finish the lantern. I'm really happy with my finished lantern and this was a great first project!
This was the second clay project we did this year. We started with clay and used a plastic plate to get the shape of the plate we wanted. We let the clay dry, and then glazed it. Once the glaze was dry, we took a stencil and placed it on the plate. Then we took a pencil and drew out the lines of the stencil on the plate. Once we finished that, we took a knife to carve out the design we chose. When we finished carving, we painted a layer of clear glaze over the plate to make the part we carved out shiny when we fired it. When the glazing was done we fired our plates and got the finished result. Again, I am super happy with how my plate finished.
For this project we made a logo that has our initials, and reflects us. The goal was that if your friends see it they would know that this is your logo. I started with the KW, because those are my initials. I thought the wave in the W would make it stand out and I love the beach so I thought that would be a creative way to show that. And then I painted an ombre wave for the front of this project. The other pictures are the other sides. One side has Psalm 46:5, because it is my favorite Bible verse. The top has a tennis ball, ice cream, and a duck, because these are all things I love. The other side has a sillouet of a dance move called a needle. This refelcts how I am a dancer. On the back side I wanted to have a bunch of pictures, of memories and people I love. I was really happy with how this project turned out.
For this project I made a dolphin out of clay. I started by shaping the clay in the general shape of a dolphin, and then I refined it to be in the exact shape I wanted. After that we fired the clay, and then I painted it to look like an actual dolphin.
Most animals were 3D, but I made mine flat on one side so I could hang it on the wall. I thought this was a really fun project and I'm super happy with how mine turned out.
I loved how my cookies turned out looking for this project. The goal was to make them look exactly like the item you were making, and I think my cookies look pretty realistic. This wasn't my favorite project, the process of sanding the blocks down into a cookie shape reminds me of using a nail file, and personally I can't stand nail files. Even though I didn't love the process of making this project, I'm super happy with how mine turned out looking.
For this project we had the freedom to make any shape jar. I chose to do something more simple, because I planned to give it to my mom as a gift with flowers in it. I loved this project. It was super fun to make, and I love how it turned out. I ended up putting flowers in my jar and giving it to my mom for Mother's Day, and she loved it!
I thought I wouldn't like this project when we started it, but I actually really liked it. At first the reeds were really hard to work with, but once you got the hang of it it was a fun project. I loved my idea to do the bow, and I think it turned out super cute and creative. I really liked doing this project.
