Giving outdated tech another chance to strive.
A non-profit organization focused on reusing outdated technology and repurposing it into new forms of technology to help reduce e-waste.
Electronic waste is a huge environmental problem. Most discarded electronics are improperly disposed of which results in electronics ending up in landfills. The e-waste in landfills is exposed to excessive heat which results in the e-waste releasing toxic chemicals that can cause environmental and health issues. The overall mission of Renovated Tech is to salvage unwanted and outdated technology for functional parts. New forms of technology will be made from the salvaged parts. I plan to get sufficient funds for this organization by selling about forty-five percent of the finished products. They can sell on eBay or other thrid-market selling websites. The money collected will serve two purposes: to give donators monetary compensation as an incentive to recycle more technology and to ship out the product. The money will be used to ship out the products to third-world countries or countries where technology isn't as abundant as the United States. The idea is to work directly with school districts in areas such as Mexico where we could ship out the products directly to them, so they can distribute them to their students. Through this practice, old technology won't be lying around collecting dust. It will serve a new purpose in countries deprived of modern technology.
The overall idea of this project was inspired by a LinusTechTips YouTube video. The video above is what inspired me to look at different possibilities of reusing old technology.
