Observation is one of the required activity to know better about the class we want to be taught. Observation also help me to have initial idea about what i am going to do with my teaching practice. I did my observation once before my teaching practice and two times in the same day with my teaching practice.
I did my observation three times, first when my SEA Teacher's friend having her final demo and when student teacher did their teaching activity. But i observed better when the UNP student teacher teaches the students. There, the student teacher did a game that need the students to be focus. The game called Symbo, to deliver the lesson about chemical elements. The rules are the same with Bingo game. At first, the teacher will draw a pattern that needs to be finish by crossing the elements the students have made. It's a 5Ă—5 square contains elements that they have written. The teacher then mention the name of an element and the students mark the element that the teacher has mentioned. The student need to cross the element in accordance with the pattern the teacher's have made so that a student can win the game. The learning materials is just a basket and the names of the elements. This game make the students focus on what the teacher said so they must listen carefully so that the element will be match with the element that the teacher has mentioned. In the end of the session, the teacher will announce the winner of the game.
I did the second and third observation in grade 10. The topic that the teacher explain is about wavelength. The media used for this teaching is tarpapel. Tarpapel is an arranged of some papers into one. The content of the tarpapel is a table of any kinda of wavelength and the form of wavelength. At first the teacher provide a tabel with some blank column. The column needs to be completed by the students' answer. They attach the answer into the table then present it in the class. The using of tarpapel is an alternative way of learning media from the teacher because of its big size of paper, it can be seen from the students in the back instead of using power point. With the guidance of the teacher, the student present it in front of class. After the presentation, the student had an evaluation test to measure their knowledge.
