Adlina's Diary: A Glimpse of
Sea-Teacher Journey
INTRODUCING MY SELF🌼
Hi there! My name is Adlina Nur Azri, everybody usually calls me Azri. Now, I am currently a fourth year student in the English Education Department at Universitas Sebelas Maret in Indonesia. Talking about language and education, I’m deeply passionate about the education field, particularly in teaching, giving the children broader perspectives about the essential part of language. In this present global society, language as communication tools can be beneficial in educational aspects, seeking knowledge, livelihood, and creating understanding of cultures and visions of the world community. Therefore, I’m passionate about teaching language. I believe that education serves as the cornerstone for shaping a brighter future, and educators hold the key to unlocking the potential within every child.
I'm excited to share the exciting chapter of my journey as an active participant in the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange program facilitated by SEAMEO. Through this journey, I'm not only engaging with diverse cultural experiences but also exploring the intricacies of education in a new context. Through documenting my experiences, my goal is to transfer my incredible experiences and meaningful journey during Sea-Teacher Program Batch 9.
Through this blog, I aim to share the valuable insights I gain, focusing on creative teaching approaches, cultural nuances, and educational perspectives that I encounter during this wonderful journey. By revealing the agenda of Sea Teacher Batch 9 into my personal experiences, my intention is to spark curiosity, encourage comprehension, and foster a sense of collaboration and learning among those who will engage with my blog.
Happy reading!
What significance does Sea-Teacher hold in my life?
The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
Based on the SEAMEO seven priority areas for the eleven SEAMEO Member countries to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, “Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas in building and strengthening capacity of teachers in the region.
The exchange is preferably for 4th year students whose major are in math, science, English and pre-school. The duration is for one month and based on the mechanism of cost sharing basis. Students’ roles and responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one month period (observe, assist in teaching, teach and reflect). Moreover, the host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the students throughout the practicum period.
To enable pre-service student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy
To encourage the pre-service student teachers to practice their English skills
To allow the pre-service student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view
To expose future teachers to diverse teaching and learning situations and opportunities, and the value of flexibility.
