- Literature review
o While I did not write a formal literature review, I conducted daily searches through public health and medical literature databases regarding homelessness prevention, mass incarceration, race/gender studies, and pregnant incarcerated women and neonatal outcomes. This resulted in two annotated bibliographies that are to be used in future advocacy and policy projects by LSPC.
- Program Implementation
o While the HP 4 grant webinars were not yet formulated nor presented, I worked closely with the legal team to plan the project starting from the needs assessment, materials to present in the webinar, and post-webinar follow-up. I also helped determine which non-QLSP housing support organizations would be contacted and how and provided the database to keep track.
- Survey design
o I wrote sample questions for a needs assessment/knowledge gap survey for QLSPs, adjusted questions written by a previous public health student, and provided sample questions for a pre- and post-test for the QLSPs regarding the webinars.
- Coalition building/communication
o Working at LSPC afforded me the chance to work with policy and advocacy organizers, interview individuals who had attended the CPMP and were involved in the original litigation and speak with lawyers who had conducted prior investigation into CPMP. I also wrote responses to many prisoners who had written LSPC in the past and encouraged them to join AOUON.
