During Week 10, I immersed myself in brainstorming ideas for the upcoming MADA NOW exhibition while further refining the product design specification table necessary for achieving milestone 2.
RE-EVALUATING TOOLKIT COMPONENTS
Expanding upon the enhanced Product Design Specification (PDS) established in Week 6, I undertook a reassessment of its alignment with the ongoing creative toolkit project. Throughout this evaluation, I made necessary adjustments, including the modification or removal of specific requirements, metrics, and values. Yellow indicates the need for change, pink represents undetermined status, and orange signifies achieved values
CHANGE IN ACCESSIBILITY CONSIDERATIONS -COST:
One consideration is the affordability of the creative toolkit. Based on the advice I've received from the develop portfolio, I'm aware that educational institutions often operate with constrained budgets for learning resources. Consequently, I've aimed to keep the cost per kit at an affordable $15.
However, after producing some mockups and conducting price research, the estimated price for a single creative toolkit comes to $21.37. It's worth noting that as the quantity increases, production costs decrease, making it feasible to maintain a per-toolkit price below $19.
CONVENIENCE TO EASE OF REUSE
Considering the budget constraints, it also becomes crucial for educators to maximize the reuse of the creative toolkit while maintaining its affordability. To facilitate this, the metric of "ease of reuse" will be used instead. To simplify the process and eliminate the need for resizing, it's essential for the materials to align with standard paper sizes, such as A4 and A3.
CHANGE IN RESOURCE LIBRARY - AMOUNT OF VISUAL CONTENT
The initial marginal and ideal value are based on the number of pages I would like to achieve. The visual package now consist of three A4 pages, a total of 39 usable visual content.
REFINED PRODUCT DESIGN SPECIFICATION R3:
MADA NOW
For the exhibition, I was hoping to set up a cozy reading area - originally in the opposite half of the riso-printer room, where visitors can comfortably sit and explore the creative toolkit.
A
A wooden peg board with shelving and small desk to showcase the creative toolkit and exegesis. The bookshelf is accompanied by two lounge chairs/ bean bags.
B
A similar set-up but without the small desk, and more shelvings.
ESTIMATED MEASUREMENTS
<PEGBOARD PEGS OR RODS TO BE CUSTOMISED TO FIT THE HOLE SIZES.>
