Global practice - Hyloh (2017) - sustainability, efficiency, materials
ethos - materials - measurement - design - communication
process = knowledge
When materials are considered creatively, they have the power to inspire and inform design that is thoughtful, purposeful, and efficient.

GenFrame: An Interactive Picture Frame Painting the Portrait of Any Girl (2024)
Peter Kun, Matthias Frieberger, Sebastian Risi, Anders Sundes Lovlie
INITIAL NOTES
GenFrame - mimic traditional paintings - as an interactive picture
What is the role of traditional art? and how will that affect AI?
permanence of traditional art - anchor through history of humankind
on demand possibility of generative AI
“It’s hard to distinguish between AI-generated art and traditional art, especially if it’s framed similarly. For example if it’s printed and wouldn’t be on a screen. However, I feel that traditional art carries real emotions from the artist.”
COMMUNAL CONNECTION - "more collective" process
lack of emotion with AI use - no narrative
PUTTING THEORY TO ACTUALISATION
AI is a powerful tool that should be implemented with caution. While this technology replicates artistry, it mimics physical paintings previously made. AI Art lacks the physicality of real art and the time and progression by the artist...
There are No Sustainable Materials. (2020)
Hyloh
INITIAL NOTES
Materials = people = many shapes and sizes / diversity
adapting our environmental impact or footprint
We live in a consuming world...
"conclusions should never be drawn based on prejudices."
circular thinking - regenerative - restorative cycle of design
PUTTING THEORY TO ACTUALISATION
This title does reflect reality as a product designer. No matter how sustainable a product is perceived to be - there is often mass production that follows... so the product frequently leads to pollution regardless of what sustainable practice is used.
Transparency Is The New Green (2020)
Hyloh
INITIAL NOTES
Greenwashing - false / misleading info about how environmentally friendly or impactful products/ services
COMPLEX ISSUE
Being 'realistic and sincere', transparent - openly conveying to consumers toward positive change
We need to become environmentally responsive, rather than live a lie and falsify actions
PUTTING THEORY TO ACTUALISATION
In designing a product or service, one should be open and honest about their production and distribution. They should emphasise the positive changes to the environment, to do better for their brand and the world overall.
IN STUDIO DOCUMENTATION
Invite / Poster - Fold Exploration / AI use
As part of my ideation for Vision 2024, and exploration I consulted with AI for brainstorming exhibition ideas and to learn more about the brand. It was helpful for initial ideation, but it was through reading a physical book about Romance was Born, that my creativity sparked. It was also through verbal feedback and physical ideation that I came to the decision of 'In Bloom', with the subtitle of The Artistry of Romance Was Born after many different iterations previously mentioned.
In designing an invite that emulates the exhibition and purpose I experimented with different folds and paper types as a means to find what direction I'd like to go in. This links with materiality, and how no material is sustainable. As part of my ideation, I used paper (that I had printed incorrectly for my DRK) to visualise an invite. After feedback, I narrowed my selection down.

"People won't lose their jobs to AI, but people how don't use AI will lose their jobs to people who do."
