Mrs. Trepanier's description:
First of all - etymology (not to be confused with entomology)...
(Pro tip: highlight each word above, click with two fingers and select "Look up" from the menu.)
Development is referring to you maturing physically, emotionally, and intellectually from a child to an adult.
Sync means together and chronous means time. the prefix a mean not. So, asynchronous means not together at the same time.
Asynchronous Development is the phenomenon where you think like a high schooler, in the body of a middle schooler, while having the emotional sensitivities of a 5th grader, for example. These traits can send mixed messages to the people around you. Some things you do or say make others think that you are an adult in an adolescent body. This can result in having unfair expectations and workloads placed upon you. Other times they see you playing with toys while talking about the Middle East conflict and think you are immature because "most people" outgrow toys before they care about world tensions.
