Ders Velischek's first season.
First year since 2014 where the divisions were not constructed randomly.
The divisions were labeled "Champs" and "Contenders". They featured the seven returning league champions in one division and the remaining seven without a championship title in the other.
Thirteen of the last fifteen picks of the draft were keepers. The twenty-fifth round featured only two actual draft pick selections.
Two trades by Aaron Snyder, one with Logan Camillo and one with Mike Andranovich, on March 25th created some heated remarks, notably by John Inguagiato, in respect to the fairness of the deals. This sparked a few hours of debate dubbed #TradeWars2K19 by Brendan Davis. The first trade saw Aaron send Tommy Pham and Anthony Rizzo to Logan for Luis Castillo and Willson Contreras, the second featured Aaron sending Daniel Murphy and Lorenzo Cain to Mike for Freddy Peralta and Carlos Rodon.
On April 8, former manager Eric Miele adamantly proclaimed 2019 was "JOHNNYS YEAR," pictured below. Eric did not drop this claim and continued to recite this mantra throughout the course of the season. Even as John Inguagiato began the season at 3-6 and did not believe in his own team's chances, Eric continued to recruit more people to the "JOHNNYS YEAR" movement, even getting a whole room of Bucknell alumni to chant in John's favor. In the end, John finished the season by going 10-3 down the stretch, scorched into the playoffs, and fell just short in the Semi-Final round.
Tony Pagliaro and Mike Andranovich both started the season 0-4. Coincidentally, both teams were stashing either Craig Kimbrel or Dallas Keuchel at the time. Neither of these high profile free agents signed with a Major League team during those first four weeks.
On May 21, there had been 4 players traded thrice throughout the season. Ryan Florentine had owned or currently owned every player at this time.
Between May 23 and May 24, Derek Dietrich was picked up and dropped by both Casey Shaw and Jason Moragas without playing a game for either.
Ryan Florentine and Tony Pagliaro finished the season without recording a save or a hold respectively.
2019 set all sorts of new trade records.
115 trades were made in the season, 37 more than the record set the prior year.
John Inguagiato, Aaron Snyder, Tony Pagliaro, Mike Andranovich, and Logan Camillo all set new personal trade records.
Eric Hannmann and Trent Pickett tied their personal trade records.
Despite leading the league in trades for the sixth straight season, Ryan Florentine did not set a new personal record.
Eric Hannmann lost both the Regular Season Champion title and the Points Title in the last week of the regular season.
Jason Moragas set the record for lowest seed to win the Points Title at 6th. This beats the record he set the year prior in 2018 when he won the award as the 3rd seed.
The first season that the Champion and Runner-Up were the two division winners.
In 2014, Eric Hannmann and Brendan Davis finished 1st and 2nd, but there were three division winners that year, James Florentine being the third. James did not come in 3rd to complete the trifecta.
