Finding Images Legally

Can i use that image?

The internet has made it easy for us to use photographs in the products that we create. It is important to understand that many images on the internet are copyrighted just a book or song are copyrighted. If you are building a website (students or teachers): Do not just randomly take a photos from Google. It could be illegal. Click on the question mark to learn more about the legal and ethical uses of copyrighted images. Vocabulary: Copyright, Fair Use, Creative Commons, and Public Domain.

*NOTE: Students in Grades 3-5 and teachers who are signed into DoDEA's Google Suite, maybe use those images, which are part of the product that has been purchased.

**The first 3 sites below are your safest bet because their focus is education.

**Brittanica Image Quest- Designed for education, automatically cites photographer, interfaces with Google Drive. You can find it in Mackinvia.

**Pics4learning- Designed especially for education, free. Allows you to submit your images to share with others.

**Photos for Class- Free, age-appropriate images that automatically cite author and license terms

Unsplash- Freely usable images, no credit necessary, but appreciated

Pixabay- Freely usable images, no credit necessary, but appreciated. You MUST use safety search.

Stockio- Freely usable images, no credit necessary, but appreciated

Reshot- Freely usable images, no credit necessary, but appreciated

Picwizard- Creative Commons license, free use, no credit necessary

Morguefile- Free usable images, you MUST credit the photographer for using his/her photo
