Sure Start is governed by three sets of standards that establish the parameters for program success:
Sure Start Program Standards
DoDEA Early Childhood Education (ECE) Space and Safety Standards
DoDEA CCRSP
The program standards define the conditions and expectations for quality programming in each of Sure Start’s four component areas:
education
health and nutrition
social services
parent involvement
The DoDEA ECE Space and Safety Standards ensure compliance and guidance with appropriate health, space, and safety requirements for young children in all DoDEA schools.
The standards are based on requirements of the National Health and Safety Performance Standards-Caring for our Children, 3rd edition (CFOC3) (2011) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and DoDEA Regulation 6055.01, DoDEA Safety Program.
