Cooperation and participation in home visits is a Sure Start enrollment requirement.
DoDEA's goal is to provide the best social emotional and academic opportunities for all military connected children. Home visits are the beginning of each child's college and career journey!
DoDEA, underscoring the importance of family engagement and building a strong home-school partnership foundation, implements home visits conducted for the youngest learners entering DoDEA schools.

Home Visits
Who: Your child's Sure Start teacher and paraprofessional will be visiting you and your child at home.
When: Your child's Sure Start teacher will have a sign up sheet for you to schedule a home visit during the designated Home Visit days. In Sure Start, Home Visits will be scheduled twice in the school year.
Where: This year all home visits will be remote via Google Meet. Your home or an **alternate pre-arranged location. **
What: Supporting developmentally appropriate practices, DoDEA home visits develop a collaborative relationship between home and school. Your child's teacher and the classroom paraprofessional will speak with you and your child in a comfortable setting for your child.
Why: Parents and students are often anxious about entering school for the first time. We want to ensure that every child's experience is positive. Home visits expand the teacher’s knowledge of the student’s home life, interests and cultural background(s), which allows for implementation of developmentally appropriate teaching and learning strategies in the classroom. Additionally, home visits afford us the opportunity to establish a home-school relationship that will support both students and their families in a successful transition.
