The purpose of these dioramas:
I hope that these dioramas can help to educate the public about prehistory so they can learn about the ancient beasts and ecosystem that existed or still thrived today throughout our planet history. Dioramas can be great use to perfectly demonstrate about the tone, setting and poses of character/creature or great use of display in your room to show off to people to spark interest. They can give me more freedom and artistic intentions to create diorama pieces while also learning about on how to construct them in third dimensional view, posing, proportions and texturing to create life-like figures. For this final major project, dioramas are best way to complete and submit my assignment in shortest but achievable way to be proud of my work as, I only need to worry about creating these sculptures based on my current skills of 3D sculpting.
These pieces are mostly relied on anatomy, muscle and skin study on how to fully reconstruct figure pieces, this project will have extensive research on understanding about each animal characteristics to actually create life-like models to make accurate reconstructions of these prehistoric animals. These extensive studies can further help me understand on how these prehistoric animals would have been in life based on fossils and rarely mummified specimens that give us an clue to fully reconstruct these animals. This process can help me on how to learn about sculpting muscle and skin to create detailed prehistoric animal sculptures to make them more organic despite them being in an static pose.
For this project, I will try to mainly focus on anatomical and muscle study as I won't include the selected prehistoric animals won't have skeleton due to time management and I only want to create flesh and skin of these animals as opposed to create full anatomical creature sculpt. Although there are some muscle studies for some prehistoric animals, most of muscle study research are going to be depended on modern day animals as some of modern animals are closest to match their extinct distant or somewhat closer relatives.
Also, dioramas can be great usage to demonstrate historic events or eras to showcase on what happened in the past. The use of posing and environments can help audiences to better understand and immerse into themselves like if there were travelled back in time to see on what our world was like in the past before advanced technology and science helped to shape our modern world. Dioramas are greatly used for museums for education and entertainment purposes, especially for prehistoric animals and famous historic events in human history.
