Coursework

Sophomore Year

Modern World History

This history course, which I took during my sophomore year, examines the historical events and themes that have occurred in different areas of the world from approximately 1815 to the present day. I loved the different ways in which we approached this course. There was a perfect mixture of class discussions, informative/interesting research opportunities, and unique projects that made the subject material all the more interesting. I also enjoyed the classroom climate and how even when there was disagreement or contention on certain issues, we always remained respectful and acknowledged each other's right to have an opinion. Overall this course contributed to my interest in history as well as my passion for social justice, and has been integral to my global path.

Junior Year

Advanced Placement United States History (APUSH)

APUSH was by far my favorite course throughout my junior year. This course starts at The Age of Exploration and continues chronologically to the present. What I loved most about this class was the immense depth we went into on each specific subject and the creative freedom we had over our projects. Additionally, there were so many interesting class discussions that brought about different points of view while remaining respectful. I'm so glad I got to be a part of this wonderful course.

Senior Year

Advanced Placement English Literature & Composition

The AP Lit course is the equivalent of a college freshman English course. It covers a range of literary genres including short stories, poetry, drama, and novels. Not only did I love the literature that we were able to dive deep into, but the way this course was taught to me made it a joy to walk into every day. The combination of the course literature, which brought up many important themes about mental health and human suffering, and a teacher who had a clear passion for the content was what made this class so enjoyable.
