Global Pathways
I've been a part of the Global Pathways program since my freshman year of high school. I still remember doing the summit my first year over Zoom and not knowing what the program was all about, but I've come a long way since then. I've gone to more summits, helped organize events, and attended our winter events.
Grade 9: Global Summit via Zoom
I attended my first-ever global pathways event where we met over Zoom to learn about the program and do activities such as getting plants to grow.
Grade 10: Scarecrow Project and Winter Solstice Event
I helped work on the scarecrow for the Global Pathways program, which was displayed downtown during the fall. I attended the winter solstice event where we did a variety of winter-themed activities to the end of the year before winter break.
Grade 11: Global Summit, Scarecrow, and Winter Solstice Event
I attended my first-ever in-person global summit where we got Global Pathways t-shirts, made Global Pathways buttons, and did a scavenger hunt around downtown. I helped to plan and build the annual Global Pathways scarecrow, which was displayed downtown. I went to yet another winter event for the program where we ended off the year before heading off on break.
Grade 12: Global Summit, Let in the Light Event, and Leadership meetings
I went to my final global summit where we made sushi, learned how to make recycled paper, and learned about waterbirds from our guest speaker. At the let in the light event, I made a newspaper tree, made candles which I gifted to my mother, and wrote my goals for the new year on a star. Finally, I helped during leadership meetings to plan both the Let in the Light and global summit events.
