Peer to Peer Fun
Our peer-to-peer group enjoyed pizza and games together, making for a fun and relaxing time to connect and build friendships!
Really?! Repping Tupac?!
Mrs. Ford and an ELA Encore student rep Tupac Shakur after today’s deep dive into his life and legacy. Students were surprised to learn that Tupac didn’t just make music—he studied acting, poetry, ballet, and jazz, and was an avid reader who admired authors like William Shakespeare and Kurt Vonnegut. His story proves that intelligence, creativity, and determination can grow anywhere - just like in his poem they studied in class, A Rose That Grew from Concrete.
The 2nd Law of Motion
Need a refresher on Newton’s Second Law of Motion? Just ask one of Ms. Teske’s 6th graders! In class, students explored how force, mass, and acceleration are connected through hands-on experiments. They didn’t just learn about it—they saw it in action. By the end of the lesson, these young scientists were confidently explaining how and why objects move the way they do!
Spinning for Probability
Exploring probability in Math 6 with Mrs. Lilly.
Tea-riffic Friday
Ms. Wetzel’s ELA class understood the assignment… show up, smile, and sip something amazing
Yummy Science Project
Mrs. Johnston’s 7th grade Science classes used Oreo cookies to represent the phases of the moon.
Learning in 3D
Exploring Surface Area with 3-D nets in Mrs. Lilly’s class!
Statistics Scavenger Hunt
Mrs. Lilly’s 6th graders spent some time reviewing Statistics with a Scavenger Hunt.
Statistics Scavenger Hunt
Mr. Mohler’s class raised some butterflies and they’re waiting for a nice day to release them! Damien and Gavin were excited to show some of their friends.
Looking for DNA
8th grade science students extracted the DNA from a strawberry in Mrs. Hughes class! They learned that almost all living organisms have DNA.
Evolving and Adapting
Mrs. Kesterke’s 8th graders learned about how whales have evolved over time.
They learned that whale ancestors evolved to live on land, and then evolved again to adapt to living under water.
Looking for Evidence
Mrs. Kesterke’s 8th grade science class looked for evidence of chemical reactions.
Dissecting to Find Evidence
If you’re curious about what an owl eats, ask one of Ms. Teske’s 6th graders who were dissecting owl pellets.
Ready to Work!
Mr. West's Personal Finance classes completed some mock interviews and did a great job getting prepared for the workplace!
Measuring Volume
8th grade Advanced Science students found the volume of objects using length x width x height and a graduated cylinder for irregular items.
Shark Tank at Springbrook
Mrs. O’Brien’s Creative Writing students presented their ideas in a Shark Tank model to other students and staff at Springbrook.
Interacting with the Past
Students in Mrs. Frank’s Holocaust class have been using VR’s to tour concentration camps as survivors tell their stories.
Foods' Carbon Footprint
Mrs. Kesterke’s 8th grade science class measured and compared the carbon footprint of foods they eat.
A Latte to Learn
There was “A Latte Learning” happening at Springbrook Middle School as Mrs. Esparza’s classes eased back into learning by enjoying cocoa while previewing middle school novels.
Learning the Driedl Game
Students in Holocaust class playing the Dreidel game.
Friends at Alexander
Mrs. Bahlau's class spent some time working with some friends at Alexander Elementary
Café Day
Students enjoyed some hot chocolate on Café Day in Mrs. Ford’s room - a sweet reward for showing respectful behavior in the classroom.
Flying Away!
PLTW students made hot air balloons while exploring flight. Mrs. Hughes and her students tested them outside.
October Students of the Month:
Congratulations!
Fall Scholar Athletes:
Great job to these student athletes!
Music Presentations
Springbrook MS Choir students presented music projects including performances, research, and artwork. So much creativity, inspiration, and talent was shared! Great job Maples!!
A Lesson with M&M's
Mrs. Kesterke’s 8th grade science class used M & M’s to help model the difference between weather and climate.
September students of the month. Great job in the classroom, keep up the good work!
Measuring the Mass of Air
The 8th graders in Accelerated Science completed a lab exploring how air has mass. They warmed up the air in the bottle (with a solution on the top) to see how the air molecules move faster and create a bubble. They also cooled the air in the bottle to see how the air molecules compress.
Locked In Musically
Springbrook MS Choir students had their annual lock-in. It was a great event with the combined 6th-8th grade choirs. Students rehearsed "Sisi Ni Moja" (We Are One) by Jacob Narverud for the December concert, worked in sectionals, and enjoyed a pizza and glow-stick dance party together. Thank you to our guest clinician, Mandy Kruse, for working with our students, to Mr. Antalek, Mrs. Force, Mr. Fox, 8th grade choir leadership team, and to the AHS choir students who helped make the lock-in a success!
Taking Flight
Students in PLTW have been learning about flight. Students were able to demonstrate their understanding by flying drones outside.
Mock Interviews
Mr. West's Personal Finance students participated in some mock interviews to sharpen their skills for their future endeavors.
Showing Determination
Students participated in PBIS activities across the building, here working together to build index card towers with limited resources!
Volcanic Eruption!
Mr. Mohler's Science class had the opportunity to watch and describe a volcano eruption.
