We also learned a LOT about colonialism and imperialism and their effects on the world today. Some parts of imperialism seem logical on paper like colonizing a certain area that have valuable resources but a lot of the time it reveals just how brutal some nations are when they engage in imperialism. An example of this was when Belgium occupied the Congo and used the people who lived there to constantly harvest rubber from tree, if anyone resisted or didn't meet their quota, there would be barbaric punishments.
