An IB Arts Field study took place on October 14th, 2022. Students visited three galleries: the National Pinakothiki (National Art Gallery) in Vasileos Konstantinou Av. Athens, the National Museum of Modern Art in Syngrou-Fix Athens and the NEON - former Public Tobacco Factory Exhibition in Lenorman, Kolonos.

Art Athina’s Return to Zappeion Hall

The international contemporary art fair of Athens returned to Zappeion Mansion September of 2022. From the 16th to 19th, a collection of 81 galleries from all across Greece and abroad were displayed inside the mansion for thousands of people to see. Visitors were able to observe all kinds of art from different cultures and styles as well as purchase some for their own. It was an opportunity for artists to give themselves exposure and showcase their work for a wide audience to see.

Transcending the Film Industry; How Charlie Chaplin Changed ‘Comedy’ Forever

Charlie Chaplin’s most memorable character; the naive and lovable Little Tramp, dressed in a shabby suit, and accompanied by a cane, always seems to find himself stumbling into awkward situations. Characterized as a vagrant, with the dignity of a gentleman, the Little Tramp single-handedly elevated the entertainment medium of motion pictures into art.

"Rex-Fest"

On October 12th we had an amazing theatre production. It was a collaboration between IB Theater, IB Literature, IB Language & Literature, Theory of Knowledge, and Perspectives in Literature classes. Miss Thanopoulou and Dr. Syropoulos did a fantastic job preparing students for the performance. Students then held Socratic seminars to draw links between A.I. Oedipus and contemplate whether we are exceeding our own limitations. It was a big success and left lots of the audience wondering when the next big Lancerwood production will be.
