At Strawberry, we want to help ensure a secure financial future for our employees – even after their working life has ended. In this chapter, you will find information about our pension scheme, how it works, and the rights and benefits you have as an employee.
Table of Contents
In accordance with the Norwegian Working Environment Act, the upper age limit for employment protection is 72 years.
What does this mean? It means that the employer may terminate the employment relationship without further justification when an employee reaches the age of 72.
Notice Period: If the company wishes for you to retire at age 72, you must be provided with a written notice at least 6 months in advance.
Exceptions: Some hotels may have lower age limits based on specific health or safety requirements. If you are uncertain about the rules at your specific hotel, please contact your manager.
Gold Card Benefits for Retirees: We highly value our employees, even after their professional career has ended. If you retire while employed by us, we want you to continue visiting our hotels. Therefore, you will retain the ability to book rooms at discounted rates (Employee rate and Friends & Family).
Booking: Contact Customer Service at +47 22 33 42 00 or via email: booking@strawberry.no.
Your pension primarily consists of two parts: the National Insurance Scheme (Folketrygden) and the defined contribution pension (Innskuddspensjon) through Strawberry.
If you wish to resign from your position in connection with retirement, the company's standard notice periods apply.
National Insurance Pension (Folketrygden)
The rules for flexible withdrawal apply here:
Freedom of Choice: You can start withdrawing your pension from the age of 62 (depending on your accumulation and birth year). You can choose to withdraw all or only a portion of your pension.
Combination: You can freely combine work and pension withdrawals. This means you do not have to quit your job to begin receiving your National Insurance pension.
Defined Contribution Pension (DNB)
Strawberry saves for your pension every month. The scheme is managed by DNB.
Contribution Rates:
3% of salary between 0 and 7G.
12% of salary between 7.1 and 12G.
Note: Pensionable salary is based on fixed gross salary. Variable performance-based bonuses and overtime are excluded.
Membership: You are enrolled from your first krone earned, provided you are at least 13 years old and have reportable earnings exceeding NOK 1,000.
Withdrawal: Payouts can start from age 62. The payout period must be at least 10 years (and last until at least age 77). In the event of death, the remaining balance is paid to your heirs.
Exclusions: This scheme only covers retirement pension (it does not include disability or survivor benefits).
Your Investment Choice: Your funds are invested in mutual funds. You can choose your own risk profile at DNB (50%, 80%, or 100% equities). The default choice is Pension Profile 80.
Log in with BankID at dnb.no/pensjon to change your profile or view your balance.
Own Pension Account (Egen pensjonskonto): You can also choose to move your pension capital to a provider of your choice. Read more at norskpensjon.no
If you leave Strawberry, you will be discontinued from the pension scheme. You will take the value of your earned pension with you in the form of a Pension Capital Certificate (pensjonskapitalbevis). You will receive information regarding your rights from DNB following your departure.
Some of our hotels are covered by collective agreements that include the AFP scheme. This is a lifelong supplementary pension. The qualification rules are strict (e.g., you must be employed by an AFP-affiliated company for a specific period leading up to retirement).
Please contact your manager to check if your hotel offers AFP and to learn about the requirements for eligibility.
