With two weeks left of the year, there are so many wonderful events, celebrations, and learning opportunities happening across the school.
Tonight we're excited to host the Year 8 Graduation Dinner as we celebrate the achievements of these young adults and wish them all the very best for the next stage in their learning journey! It's incredible to think how much has changed from when these now mostly 13-year-olds started with us at age 5!
We look forward to seeing you all at next week's Learning Achievement Celebration!
Ngā mihi nui,
Sarah and the team
A reminder, tomorrow is Dress Your Way Day.
This Student Council initiative to rename mufti days, learners can ditch the school uniform for the day and wear what makes them happy.
This week you will have received an email with all the details you need to know regarding the school's biggest night of the year, a celebration of this year's achievements of all learners. Here's the key information:
Wednesday 10 December, 6pm at Sacred Heart College
All learners and their whānau are expected to attend
All learners must arrive by 5.45pm. Orchestra and Kapa Haka learners are required earlier
Food Trucks will be available from 4.15pm, with last orders at 5.30pm.

Please read our email for all the details.
We’re ending the year with a BANG! 🎄✨

Thank you to all the families that have dived under the couch, bravely explored to the bottom of the schoolbags or have made that extra effort to look for the books still outstanding from the library. We’re down to our last 107 books still out on loan, it would be great to have them all back before the holidays, or to have had some action to ‘put it right’ if the books can’t be returned. We also have 136 books that left the library without being issued correctly so please keep an eye out for these books as well. The list is here (click on ‘learners’ to get past the first screen).
Thank you for your help in maintaining this awesome resource for our learners.
Our Year 5-6 learners have been using the knowledge gained from their teacher-led rotations to create In Real Life (IRL) brochures on what to do when we don't know what to do.
Next week, our learners will bring everything together by applying their IRL brochure learning, their IRL activity knowledge, and their fort-making skills as they host our Year 3-4 village. This tuakana–teina afternoon will be a great way to celebrate and showcase all of our Term 4 concept learning.
Firstly we want to say a huge thank you to all the parents who helped support our Friday Cafes this term. They are always a highlight of the week, so thank you for making this happen!
Now it's time to get your 2026 diary out! We have assigned the Friday Cafes for Term 1 to each year level, as you won't know your child's hubs just yet. Each week we need 2-3 volunteers from the year group. Please let the office know what date you can help on.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our musicians and our local community at the recent Stonefields Market Day. Our school bands, choir and a range of soloists brought their best together and represented the school with great pride. It was so wonderful seeing the huge number of kids having the confidence to perform in front of a live audience.
The audience was blown away by your talent and passion for music!
Last Saturday, the weather and sun awakened the beautiful songbirds — He whiti mai te rā, ka oho ake ngā manu tioriori. Our songbirds from Te Rōpū o Ngā Pāraipōhatu were in full chorus, from the baby chicks of Year 0 to the giant moa of our Intermediates.
They began with a powerful war chant, flowed into a harmonised ensemble of melodies, and mesmerised the audience with their actions, takahi, and poi. Our ropū held their heads high with another performance of outstanding quality.
There have been many special highlights from our Hui and Talanoa forums this term. On Thursday 27 November, our Māori and Pasifika whānau gathered to reflect on and celebrate the best parts of our tamariki’s year.
Te Puawaitanga learners shared their standout moments — from making hāngī in the oven to exploring their whakapapa, and learning their pepeha. Whaea Ashliegh also presented the achievements of our Fale Pasifika learners, including creating Fijian ice blocks, and producing beautiful Pasifika artwork.
We hope that next year, all our Māori and Pasifika families will join us and continue to partner with us through our Hui and Talanoa.
Read books that you will love right through the holidays. Whānau, sign your kids up to the school summer reading programme; Raumati Reads at Auckland Libraries - or both!
The school’s summer reading programme offers:
TEN books to borrow from the library
A booklet with fun activities
Prizes when you bring the books back
Come on up to the school library to sign up and you can collect the books before the end of the term.
To get ahead of the summer growth spurts, we recommend you get your Pre-Loved Uniform requests in this week. This will allow our team to process it and have it ready for collection before the end of the year.
Any requests received after Wednesday 10 December, will not be available until the day before school starts in February and only if we have the stock available.
Also if you have any uniform items you no longer need, and they are still in good condition, we'd love to have them donated to replenish our stock!
On Monday 15 December we will have our annual Transition Morning where all learners spend the morning in their 2026 Hub with their new teachers. This is a great way for learners to experience their new hub, teachers, and year level before the summer holidays. You will find out your child's 2026 Hub on Friday 12 December so you will have time over the weekend to set your child up for success with the transition.
We are so happy to announce that the bake sale we participated in, reached just over $300! We are truly so thankful for your support on the day. Every donation made a big difference and this money will be going towards the NZ Cancer Society and NZ Diabetes. It was awesome to see so many people come in to buy our food, thanks a lot. The cookies, cake pops, rice krispies, brownies and marshmallow slices were such a big hit - it sold out almost immediately! It was awesome! When we did the bake sale, it helped us learn more about how to give back, and how a sale/shop works when using cash. It was really fun handing out these yummy treats and we hope you all enjoyed it as well. A special thank you to Mrs Unka for helping us organise this event.
From: Anika, Nanditha, Keisha, Navya, Nathan and Keira
On Saturday 13 December, our school choir, band, and Nathan Imboden will be performing at the Sing for the City fundraiser event. Last year this event, hosted by the Stonefields Community Choir, raised over $15,000 for the Auckland City Mission and is a wonderful celebration of Christmas spirit.
Measles cases have recently been identified across New Zealand and have already impacted two schools in our region. Measles spreads easily and can be serious for both children and adults. Health New Zealand has advised us that according to the Aotearoa Immunisation Register, around 80% of our school roll is fully immunised for Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR). If you are unsure if your child is fully immunised, or they received their immunisations overseas, we recommend getting in touch with your GP to ensure their record is up to date.
A huge congratulations to our 48 athletes who have taken part in our interschool athletics tournaments over the last two weeks. Following Tamaki Athletics last Wednesday, we’re thrilled to share that we had some fantastic podium finishes.
Huge congratulations to our newly formed Stonefields Thunder Basketball Team, who played their hearts out at the Basketball Championships tournament held at Auckland Boys’ Grammar last Saturday. We are so impressed with your determination, teamwork, and commitment to developing your skills. There’s an exciting future ahead for this team as you enter a new league in 2026. Special thanks to Rino, Robin and Jon for all your hard work behind the scenes across Basketball. Go Thunder!!
It’s officially a wrap for our 2026 Interschool Sport Calendar! A huge thank you to all our incredible parent helpers for your support across every code and cohort this year. We truly couldn’t do it without you. We feel deeply grateful to have such a fantastic community behind us, ensuring our tamariki have access to these valuable sporting opportunities.
And a big thank you to our students, who have poured their heart and soul into their sports, competitions, tournaments, and events. We are immensely proud of each and every one of you for giving your very best at every opportunity!
Sign up forms for 2026 will be up on the Sport website from 15th December: stonefields.school.nz/sport
➡️Please encourage your learners to hop onto their Chromebooks over the school holidays to get officially signed up for their chosen events.
Our new 2026 student sign-up approach:
Next year, we’re introducing a new system. With limited capacity for interschool events, and to ensure these opportunities can be accessed by a wide range of students, learners will be able to sign up for two preferred events each term. They’ll need to choose only two from the opportunities available that term so they can fully commit the time and practice needed in the lead-up to their events.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come along to our Stonefields School Sport Expo event last Friday cafe. You can still put your name down to express early interest in our extension sports for 2026 by completing this form ➡️Stonefields School Sport Pathways 2026
Hosted by external providers, our after-school sports programs feature Basketball, Football, and Skateboarding. These are user-pays programs open to students of all ages (Y0-8) and abilities, conveniently held on school grounds.
