A warm welcome back to 2025 for all our akonga and whanau! We are thrilled to be diving straight into our learning this term. Our focus this term is "The Power of Us", and we have been identifying our skills and strengths to create CVs to apply for different leadership roles across the school. From visitor leader to buddy reader, in the Intermediate school we are all leaders, so we look forward to stepping up into these positions.
We are exploring the idea of "Not being the best on the team, being the best for the team" and what this means. We don't want to give too much away to our learners, but let's just say our learners' wheels will definitely be spun, by what we have in store for the rest of the term. Stay tuned to find out more.
As discussed, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the hub teams.

Learners will be given a literacy homework book and a maths homework book to take home each week. This book will contain a maths activity sheet and a literacy activity sheet, which will be glued in. Homework goes out on Monday and is due back into the hub on Friday morning at 9am. This sheet needs to be sighted by a parent and signed. The purpose of this homework is consolidation of skills covered in class. If you have any queries about this homework then please contact your child's literacy or maths teacher.
Tech at Selwyn College will start on Friday next week. Please note that for health and safety, learners need to wear close-toed uniform shoes and have hair tied back in a ponytail if it is shoulder length or more.
Here's some information on what the Technology programme will include:
We will be heading off to Camp Raglan from Tuesday 20 May to Friday 23 May. This is an amazing experience for all our learners and an expectation that all learners attend camp.
A communication update, including all necessary forms to fill out and costings will be sent via email.
Here's a look at the Camp Raglan facilities
We expect our Intermediate learners, as leaders of the school, to wear the correct school uniform with pride. This includes:
Black Intermediate polo shirt
Charcoal shorts, skort or trousers
Black shoes, including black laces (white soles are acceptable). Black sandals are acceptable in summer
Black or white socks
Intermediate Black jacket or Blue Fleece jacket
Bucket hat or School Cap (compulsory during Terms 1 & 4)
Black or dark blue plain hair ties/bands (no other colours please)
No jewellery or necklaces should be worn, as this is a health and safety concern during playtimes and PE sessions. Exceptions to this include jewellery of cultural significance, small stud earrings, and watches however no smart-watches.
