As we continue to focus on Kotahitanga, standing as one, we're reminded of how important it is to work together with you, our amazing community. Your partnership is key to making sure every child has the best possible experience and outcome at our school.
With our Board Elections underway, now is a fantastic time to get involved! This is your chance to elect the people who you feel will best represent you on the School Board. We have 10 candidates to choose from.
We also really want to hear your voice in our whānau survey. What do you think has worked well this year? Where are our areas for improvement? Your feedback truly matters and helps shape our school's future.
Speaking of your feedback, based on last year's survey, one of our strategic goals this year is to ensure our school values are truly lived. We recently started a new initiative where we celebrate "Whakamana Champions"—learners who have been caught living our values in action. Have you noticed a learner living our values recently? We'd love to hear about it! Please let us know what you saw, and we'll add that child to our Whakamana Champions prize draw.
Thanks for being such an important part of our school community!
Ngā mihi nui,
Sarah and the team
We are extremely fortunate to have 10 people from our community put their names forward for nomination. Now you get to select the 5 candidates you'd like representing parents on the School Board.
You will have been emailed a link to the voting platform from "Election Pilot Mission Control".
The link to vote is unique to you and cannot be used by anybody else
You may vote once for up to 5 candidates
Voting will close on Wednesday 10 September
If you didn't receive this email, please firstly check your spam/junk, then contact the school office.
It’s that time of year again, we want your feedback.
Each year we ask all caregivers to provide us feedback on what we’re doing well and where our areas of improvement are. The School Board then summarises your feedback to inform the 2026 strategic direction and prioritise what your donations should be spent on.

Children who want to read will be better readers and better readers will want to read more so how do we get our kids onto this cycle of success? Parents from all age groups are invited to a discussion about ways that we can encourage a love of reading at home, at school and for life. You will leave with practical suggestions and resources that you can use straight away.
This week our two school rock bands - Stonerock and Rock Fall, brought their best together performing at the Auckland Central BandQuest Competition in front of over 1,000 people at the Bruce Mason Theatre. Their dedication and love of music shone through delivering two incredible performances! Congratulations to Rock Fall who took out 1st place!! They will now compete in the national competition.
Special thanks to Nathan Imboden for his wonderful direction and guidance of these talented young musicians!
Here's their full 6-minute sets.
The Student Council Values Lived group recently facilitated a workshop and invited a visualiser to capture their process. Parents, staff and students were invited to participate in this workshop to digitally draw the most liked images for each mantra. The purpose is to ensure a collective understanding is grown across the School for the behaviours that lead to us being Whakamana. Check out the stop animation video that was captured at the workshop.
This week we replaced the 47 old flags hanging in the school hall with 87 new ones. This is now a true representation of our school community! Here's a challenge - how many countries can you name?
Scholastic Book Club orders for issue no.6 2025 are now open. If you wish to make a purchase, please do so before orders close on Friday, 29th August.
The ordering process is completely paper-less, and the current brochure is available to view here. There will be some paper copies of the Book Club catalogue in each of the hubs and the library, should you prefer to view the catalogue in paper form.
To place your order, please register using the LOOP website. You may then order via the website, or by using one of Scholastic's apps. Please select your child's hub (class), not their year level when placing your order. Please do not return anything to school as all orders are processed through the Scholastic LOOP system. You will be emailed when your order arrives.
If you have any problems placing your order, please email anna.malan@stonefields.school.nz or phone Scholastic on 0800 266 525.
The votes are in with very interesting results. Among the parents, Design 1 was a definite winner with 61% of the votes. Among the learners, the votes were much more even:
Design 1 - 42%
Design 2 - 20%
Design 3 - 38%
We will now progress forward with Design 1 being the preferred option, matched with shorts or a skirt. This will be available from 2026.
Earlier this term our lucky Year 3 and 4 learners got to hear from author Justin Christopher and explore some of his hilarious books. Next week at Friday Cafe he will be there to give everyone an opportunity to buy signed copies of his chapter books for $20 and his laugh-out-loud funny picture book Nannas with No Manners for $22. Catch him outside the hall between 3pm and 3.30 on Friday 5 September.
Stonefields School will be holding a ballot for the placement of 15 New Entrant learners only, for the 2026 academic year. New Entrant learners are those who will be Year 0/1 in 2026 and have not attended primary school before. We are not opening the ballot for any other year level.
Please see our website for more information and to apply.

The bonus? A fantastic opportunity to sharpen their skills through targeted coaching and fun, game-based drills that supported their on-field development. Our players brought great energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork, making the most of it. A huge thank you to Auckland Rugby for sharing their time and expertise with our tamariki.
