Takeaways

• New music is being added to institutions' music libraries; however, there is still a lot of music that "is missing."

• To prepare music written by composers of color, students tend to research the composer's history and their work. Yet, the history of many composers of color is difficult to find; therefore, it is hard to do extensive research on them.

• In the past year, academic music institutions have done a great effort to diversify the canon. Some institutions have allocated funds and changed the curriculum to fight for equity. Nonetheless, these are only the first stages of this fight and there is still a lot to be done.
