MOTHERS DAY
Proverbs 31:31: "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Psalm 139:13-14: "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
Dear Lord, On this special day, we show our gratitude for all Mothers. We thank them for their all-encompassing love, for their commitment, care and kindness. We thank them for their wisdom, for helping us grow and flourish.

News from our Principal
Dear Families,
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who participated in the various events held over the past fortnight. Witnessing the active involvement of our families in school activities, fostering relationships among one another, as well as with our staff and children, has been truly heartwarming. The Mother's Day Breakfast was a resounding success, marked by its sold-out attendance. Our sincere appreciation goes to Sonia Mazzei for orchestrating this delightful event. We recognise the considerable time and effort invested in ensuring the smooth execution of such occasions. To those who generously offered their assistance during the breakfast, your invaluable support does not go unnoticed. Additionally, we extend our thanks to Ange, whose dedication significantly contributes to the success of school events. The Mother's Day Stall owes much of its feasibility to Ange's unwavering commitment; thus, we express our gratitude for her time and support.
We'd also like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the parents who graced the Grade 1/2 Parent Faith Night, orchestrated with care by Clara Privitera and the Grade 1/2 teachers. It was a meaningful gathering where we came together to honor our Catholic identity and strengthen our familial spiritual connections. Through moments of prayer, contemplation of scripture, and collaborative art and craft activities, we deepened our bonds and enriched our shared journey of faith.
The Early Years Reading Parent Workshop, held on Tuesday night, garnered an exceptional turnout. This workshop delved into strategies to support children in their literacy and learning journey, encompassing oral language, phonological awareness, and the acquisition of early literacy skills. A special acknowledgment goes to Michelle Rinaldi and Mrs. Julie Hanna for their facilitation, as well as to all participants who attended.
Upcoming Events & Key Dates:
Athletics Day: Please refer below for comprehensive details regarding the STM Athletics Day. We extend our appreciation to Bianca Michienze for her outstanding efforts in organising this event.

Learning Conversations: Scheduled for Tuesday, 25 June, and Wednesday, 26 June, these sessions are by appointment only. Further details will be provided later this term.
Daily Operations:
Drop-off and Pick-up: Gates open at 8:30 am. It's imperative to adhere to this timing as students cannot be dropped off before 8:30 am. Gates will remain locked until this time and will not be supervised by staff until 8:30am. Please exercise caution while driving within school premises. Afternoon gates open at 3:10 pm.
Parish Kindergarten Building Works: Ongoing construction may impact drop-off and pick-up routines. We will keep you informed of any changes.
Canteen: Open four days a week (closed Tuesdays). We understand that some parents are experiencing challenges with the CDFPay Platform. While we are actively seeking alternative solutions, please reach out to CDFPay directly via email at support@cdfpay.org.au for assistance. In the interim, should you encounter issues with the app, you are welcome to place your child's lunch order in a paper bag with cash. We will accommodate this until the CDFPay issues are resolved.
Communication: Stay updated on your child's learning progress through SeeSaw. Our primary communication channels remain email, Operoo, and our social media platforms.
Newsletter & Assembly Schedule:
Newsletters will be bi-weekly via email.
Assemblies will continue every Monday at 9:50 AM and alternate Fridays at 2:30 pm.
The last day of Term 2 will be on Friday, June 28, with a 12:00 pm dismissal. Please note that the canteen will be closed, and we encourage a gold coin donation for charity.
Portable Classroom
In preparation for our upcoming refurbishment project, set to begin early in Term 3, a portable classroom will be installed on on the school grounds over the next few weeks. This portable will be placed next to the Basketball Court.
Please be aware that fencing will be installed around the construction zone to ensure the safety of our school community. This area will be clearly marked as out of bounds. The fencing is a temporary measure whilst the portable is being constructed. I will be sending out further information over the next few weeks.
This will not impact Pick Up or Drop Off at this point in time as the gate will still be able to be used by students and families.
We are committed to keeping you informed and will provide updates as more information becomes available. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our school facilities.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Warm regards,
David Hurn

Languages
Ciao a tutti!
The studenti have been revising the unit 3 language this week and will continue next week with some mid-term assessment. If you are following along at home you may like to encourage your children to keep practising how to ask and answer the following questions:
Posso avere? (Can I have?) All year levels
Sì (Yes) Years Prep-2
No (No) Years Prep-2
Sì, puoi (Yes, you can) Years 3-6
No, non puoi (No, you can’t) Years 3-6
Quanti anni hai? (How old are you?) Years 3-6
Ho … anni (I am… years old) Years 3-6
We also encourage translanguaging (see above) to ensure students are feeling confident in communicating and also communicating in complete sentences. They do this by replacing the words they don’t yet know with English. For example; Posso avere a sandwich per favore?
You might like to encourage your children to make requests for things in Italian like this.

Family Engagement
The Mother's Day Breakfast was a resounding success, boasting a sold-out attendance! Witnessing the children cherish valuable moments with their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and special individuals was truly heartwarming. Ange's steadfast dedication significantly contributed to the feasibility of the Mother's Day Stall. These events thrive on the collaborative efforts of parents. If you're able to lend a hand and join the P&F team, please reach out to Sonia Mazzei or Ange. Organising such events can pose challenges, so any support or ideas would be greatly appreciated. We've received feedback regarding the cost of the Mother's Day Breakfast, and while we understand the varying impacts of the cost of living, it's important to note that these events are entirely optional. Unfortunately, we cannot offer them free of charge, as the school budget doesn't allow for it. This is why the P&F committee's role is so important for a school to successfuly host events. If you can contribute in any capacity, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We express our gratitude to the local businesses and families who generously contributed donations to the STM Mother's Day Stall. Our appreciation goes out to Elk, Amore Coffee, and Bexwix Candles for their support.
Kind Regards,
Sonia Mazzei
