The Resurrection

The Resurrection

This window shows Jesus after the resurrection. The resurrection is the Christian belief that Jesus rose from the dead, three days after being crucified. We celebrate the resurrection on Easter. Jesus had to walk with the heavy cross and a crown of thorns up to the place of his death, which is depicted in the Stations of the Cross. Jesus went through this journey to save us from sin and was resurrected three days later.

The window of the Resurrection was donated by R.J Benn. R.J. Benn was the owner of the Kalispell Grand Hotel and was killed during a robbery of the hotel in 1915.

Symbolism

Jesus is wearing a red robe, symbolizing the blood he shed for our sins and is also holding a white flag with a red cross, symbolizing Christianity. He is barefoot symbolizing his humility.

His hand gesture is what is used for benediction, (which is the bestowing of a blessing) and is also used to make the sign of the cross. In his hand, you can see his wounds from the nails of the cross.
