Soundtrack of My Life presentations
8th graders participated in a presentation assignment where they get to choose 5 songs that represent different areas of their life. A song for when they feel joy, a song when they are going through a hard time, a song to wake up to, a song that reminds them of their favorite person and a song for when they have accomplished a goal. They were to choose one of those and present the song that is related to it. They made their own slideshows and presented the song. These presentations come after a unit on how people have listened to music throughout the decades from phonographs, to vinyl records, to cassettes tapes, to CDs, to iPods and finally...streaming! Students decorated CDs and CD sleeves and got really creative!

6th Grade
The 6th grade class just finished their American Musical unit. Students learned about the Rogers and Hammerstein era. This famous duo gave us musicals like The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! The King and I and Cinderella. Together, we talk about the elements that make up a musical. We watch short clips of famous songs from those musicals and even learn the songs ourselves!
