National Poetry Day

Winter Trees

Aren’t you cold and won’t you freeze,
With branches bare, you winter trees?
You’ve thrown away your summer shift,
Your autumn gold has come adrift.

Dearie me, you winter trees,
What strange behaviour, if you please!
In summer you could wear much less,
But come the winter – you undress!

World Book Day!

We have had a fantastic, and very busy, day!

We started off in the hall for our costume parade. Then we read and performed a new poem in class. We had lots of lovely book themed choosing activities too. This afternoon, we went back to the hall for a read around of Little Red and then had a book share with our Y5 buddies.

What a sneaky elf we have in class! I hope hes not as cheeky as yours at home!

Christmas Lunch!

Today the children had a mini disco party as their class pom-pom reward. They have chosen to have a PJ day next time. The children earn pom-poms for working together and helping each other. We will let you know when we're getting near 30 pom-poms in the jar!

They also had the parachute out for social time. Well done for a super week Year 1!

What a great first week we have had at school. The children have settled in so well and have grasp our class routine and structure incredibly. We are so proud of them all! They all have their own table place and carpet space, team number and group name. We are really looking forward to the year ahead of lots of exciting learning!

Here are some photos of the children choosing during our afternoons when we are doing group work. The children are really enjoying making cards for each other and playing teachers with the teddies with the Maths resources.
