Art

We started our new art topic this week looking at 3D scupltures. The children practiced different techniques to roll the paper - we tried rolling it around different cylinder shaped objects such as glue sticks and pencils to see which worked best!

The children then made their own 3D model of tube towers using the skills they had learnt in the lesson.

In our last art lesson this term, we have been looking at observational drawings. Putting all of our skills we have learnt from line drawings together. We had a task to do first which was to draw without seeing where our pencil was going, to help us to focus on studying the object we were drawing. From this, we then drew the same object again but added detail such as shading.

We have been fabulous artists last week looking at shapes and colours. The children made some beautiful designs and took their time and pride in using pastels to colour in between the lines.

Today in art we looked at waves. We started by drawing waves using pencils then added colour. Finally we added in sea creatures to our pictures. As we were drawing, we listening to La Mer by Debussy. The children showed excellent teamwork!

We have started our new topic in Art this week and it is all about drawing. We have been looking at different types of lines. Horizontal, Diagonal, Cross hatch, Wavy, broken and Vertical. The children used chalk on pieces of black paper. They did really well with this lesson and their art work looks great in their books! Well done everyone.

In Art, we have been looking at exploring colours and mixing colours. We know the 3 primary colours and we can use these to mix new colours called secondary colours. Yesterday, we made the colour green and made different shades of green. We mixed more yellow into the mix to make it lighter or added more blue to make it darker.

We looked at Clarice Cliff plates with Mr Perkins.

Can you remember how you painted your own plates?
